Ashley is one of the two MIM Directors.
He is an experienced journalist and broadcaster of 20 years standing. He began making the tea in a local newspaper office and writing the odd column before eventually being taken on as a trainee. Within two years he was editing the paper. Three years later he was working as a newsreader in commercial radio where he rose to News Editor at several stations and eventually Head of Programming. In 2005, he decided to set up Made in Manchester with his friend and 5 Times World Swimming Champion James Hickman. The company has gone from strength to strength and has made over 70 programmes for the BBC and other networks in Britain and around the world. Many of the programmes made by MIM have either been produced or exec-produced by Ashley. As well as working with Made in Manchester, Ashley also broadcasts in his own right, he writes articles, columns and lectures and is also occasionally a media consultant too. Ashley is the founder of the UK Radio Production Conference and is also a Director of RIG, the Radio trade body for the independent production sector.
